Lane restrictions scheduled for Upper Black Eddy-Milford Toll-Supported Bridge for inspections

MILFORD BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Motorists can expect delays next week as lane restrictions are implemented on the Upper Black Eddy-Milford Toll-Supported Bridge for routine inspections, officials said.

Flagger-controlled alternating single-lane travel is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, April 20-22, as part of the commission’s biennial bridge inspection process.

Officials said drivers may encounter traffic stoppages and delays when the bridge is reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and expect delays during daytime hours.

Drivers are also advised to reduce speeds, exercise caution and follow directions from flaggers while traveling through the work zone.

The inspection schedule is subject to change due to weather, emergencies or other factors.

The bridge is inspected every two years in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards and was last inspected in 2024, officials said.
