Man, 62, accused of assaulting gas station worker with car in Hunterdon County
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Glen Gardner man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a gas station attendant during a dispute over payment in Clinton Township, police said.
Police said the incident happened on July 23, when a gas station employee reported that a customer, identified as Richard Ponton, 62, became agitated, struck him with his hands, and then hit him with his vehicle, a silver Toyota sedan.
Ponton later responded to police headquarters, where he was charged with simple assault and assault by auto, authorities said. He was released pending a court appearance.
