He was located on Walmart property and taken into custody without incident.
Slingland was charged with fourth-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and petty disorderly persons offense defiant trespass. Under the New Jersey Bail Reform Act, he was released on a complaint summons.
About two hours later, officers were called back to Walmart after staff reported Slingland had returned. Police said he allegedly fled on foot but was apprehended between the Walmart and Weis properties.
As a result of the second incident, Slingland was charged with shoplifting, a disorderly persons offense, and an additional count of defiant trespass. He was again released on a complaint summons and is scheduled for court appearances in Sussex County Superior Court and Franklin Borough Municipal Court.
