NJ Transit train evacuated in Morris County due to smoke condition

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A New Jersey Transit train was evacuated Monday evening because of a smoke condition in one of the cars, according to NJ Transit.

At around 6:30 p.m., Morris & Essex train 807, which departed Hoboken at 5:28 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Lake Hopatcong at 7:00 p.m. was evacuated at Convent Station in Morris Township due to a smoke condition in one of the cars, authorities said.

No injuries were reported among the 50 customers and crew, officials said.

The cause of the smoke condition remains under investigation, authorities said.
