Man accused of stealing over $9K in lottery tickets from Somerset County convenience store

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – A Burlington County man is accused of stealing $9,300 in lottery tickets from a Franklin Township convenience store, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

On Thursday March 14, at around 8:08 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a burglary to a convenience store located on Easton Avenue, McDonald said.

Police determined that during the overnight hours, Joseph Holman, 41, of Willingboro gained entry to the store by breaking the glass door. Once inside the store, he stole approximately $9,300 worth of New Jersey lottery tickets and later validating them, McDonald said.

On April 4, Holman was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools, McDonald said.

Holman was served with his criminal complaint at the Middlesex County Correctional Center where he has been lodged since March 20, 2024, on unrelated charges stemming from Middlesex County. He will remain lodged pending a detention hearing, McDonald said.
