Motorcyclist killed, another seriously injured in Warren County crash

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A motorcyclist was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash Sunday evening in Independence Township, authorities said.

Patrol officers were dispatched at approximately 6:02 p.m. June 21 to the area of 945 Route 517 for a reported motor vehicle crash involving injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined that two motorcycles traveling northbound on Route 517 collided, causing both riders to lose control.

One rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider’s identity was not released.

The second rider was transported to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries and was listed in stable condition, according to police.

Route 517 was closed for several hours while emergency personnel investigated the crash and cleared the scene. The roadway reopened at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
