Man arrested after found sleeping in stolen vehicle in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Pennsylvania man was arrested in Denville Township after being found asleep in a stolen vehicle, according to police.

On Feb. 15, police were contacted and asked to check on the welfare of a male who was sleeping in a vehicle located in the parking lot of Schumacher Chevrolet (281 Route 46 E), police said.

Upon the patrol’s arrival, the individual was located and identified as Khalil Watkins, 32, of Emmaus. During the investigation, the vehicle Watkins was sleeping in was identified as stolen, police said.

In addition, Watkins was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Watkins was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, possession of an open container of alcohol or unsealed cannabis in a motor vehicle, failure to possess an insurance card, failure to possess a registration card, careless driving, and reckless driving.

Watkins was then lodged in the Morris County Jail pending a court appearance.
