Man arrested, charged in Phillipsburg armed robbery

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County man is facing several charges in connection to an armed robbery Monday, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Jan. 23, at around 5:45 p.m., police responded to 421 South Main Street for a report of an armed robbery, authorities said.

During the course of the investigation, police were able to locate and apprehend the suspect, who was identified as Hassan Shabazz, 57, of Phillipsburg. He was in possession of a knife believed to be the same knife used in the course of the robbery, prosecutor’s office said.

Shabazz was charged with first-degree armed robbery, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
