Man arrested on drug, weapons charges after traffic stop in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Pennsylvania man was arrested on narcotics and weapons charges following a motor vehicle stop in Clinton Township on May 5, according to Clinton Township Police Chief Thomas A. DeRosa.

An officer on routine patrol observed an equipment violation on a silver sedan traveling on Route 22 and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Blossom Hill Road near Ramsey Road. The driver, identified as Brett M. Schlicher, 40, of Coplay, Pennsylvania, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. CDS paraphernalia was observed in plain view inside the vehicle.

Police said Schlicher granted consent to search the vehicle, which led to the discovery of additional drug paraphernalia, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, and a gravity or spring-assisted knife.

Schlicher was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, maintenance of lamps, and operating a motor vehicle while in possession of CDS.

He was processed and released on his own recognizance, pending a court date.
