Man charged after reported erratic behavior in Denville Township

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Rockaway man was arrested after allegedly entering a parked vehicle and acting erratically along Route 46 in Denville Township, according to police.

Police said officers responded on Oct. 17, 2025, to the area of Route 46 and Broad Street after a 9-1-1 caller reported a man running through residential backyards and yelling at people in the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found the man—identified as 30-year-old Robert Garces of Rockaway—inside a parked vehicle he had entered, police said.

During the investigation, Garces was determined to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and was taken into custody, authorities said.

He was charged with criminal trespass and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Garces was later transported for further medical evaluation.
