Man charged after suspected methamphetamine found during traffic stop in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — An East Orange man was charged with drug possession after police allegedly found suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Denville Township, according to police.

Denville police said officers observed a black Nissan traveling east on Route 46 with an inoperable brake light at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Jerod Denmark, 48, of East Orange.

During the investigation, officers determined Denmark was driving with a suspended license and had an active $750 ATS warrant out of East Orange Municipal Court, police said.

Denmark was arrested, and during a search, officers allegedly found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Denmark was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, maintenance of lamps and operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a narcotic.

Denmark was released pending a future appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
