Morris County man accused of improperly transporting firearm

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man has been accused of improperly transporting a firearm in Denville Township, according to police.

On January 11, at around 7:42 p.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on West Main Street near the 7-Eleven. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Daniel Schmidt, 36, of Mountain Lakes Borough, was improperly transporting a firearm, police said.

Schmidt was arrested and charged with a weapon transportation violation and making an improper turn at a traffic signal. He was released pending a future court appearance, police said.
