Man charged in Mount Olive shoplifting case

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Newark man has been charged in connection with a shoplifting incident at Home Goods on International Drive South, authorities said.

Police said the theft occurred on April 18, 2025, when a man left the store with sheet sets valued at $1,184.83 without paying. Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as Tyrese T. Gregory, 25, of Newark.

A warrant for Gregory’s arrest was issued on May 7. On July 29, the Essex County Correctional Facility notified Mount Olive police that Gregory was in custody.

He was served with the shoplifting charge by Essex County Sheriff’s Officers before being extradited to New York, where he faces pending grand larceny charges.
