Hunterdon County Senior Center launches new HealthEASE program promoting wellness for older adults
HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J.— A new state-supported health and wellness initiative aimed at helping older adults live healthier, more independent lives is coming to Hunterdon County.
At the Oct. 7 Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners meeting, Deputy Director Shaun C. Van Doren announced that the Hunterdon County Senior Center will participate in the HealthEASE program, a statewide initiative established by the New Jersey Division of Aging to coordinate and expand health promotion and disease prevention services for seniors.
“Our Senior Center continues to offer engaging programs that promote both health and community connection,” said Deputy Director Van Doren, who also serves as liaison to the Senior Center. “The HealthEASE workshops provide vital knowledge that can empower our older residents to take control of their health. I encourage all seniors to participate and take advantage of these workshops.”
The Senior Center will host two HealthEASE workshops this month:
- Medication Workshop — Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at Courtyard Luxury Senior Living in Clinton. Participants will learn about safe medication practices, including recognizing allergic reactions and avoiding common drug interactions.
- The “Big Three” Workshop — Monday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Hunterdon County Senior Center, focusing on the three major diseases impacting women: heart disease, cancer, and stroke.
In addition to the new health program, the Senior Center will continue its annual Halloween tradition with the 2025 Murder Mystery Theater on Friday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. This year’s performance, titled “Win, Lose, or Die,” will feature a game show-themed “whodunit” full of jealousy, competition, and intrigue. Attendees will enjoy lunch and live entertainment during the event.
