Man charged with DWI after hit-and-run crash in Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run crash on Stedwick Drive, police said.
Authorities said they were called around 5:12 p.m. Saturday after a witness reported a vehicle sideswiping a parked car before leaving the scene. Officers responded and found damage to the victim’s vehicle.
An investigation determined that the driver, identified as 33-year-old Mario N. Cicero, had caused the crash with a gray Nissan, according to police. He was later located at his residence, where officers noted signs of impairment.
Cicero was arrested after performing field sobriety tests and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.
He was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing, police said.
