Man charged with DWI after incident at Denville hospital, police say
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Jefferson man was arrested Tuesday morning after police said he drove intoxicated to St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville Township.
Police responded to the hospital parking lot around 8:50 a.m. Aug. 19 after receiving a report of an intoxicated man attempting to drive away, according to the Denville Police Department.
Hospital security flagged down officers and directed them to the man, identified as James Harrington, 39. Police said an investigation determined Harrington had driven to the hospital while intoxicated. He failed roadside sobriety tests, and officers observed an open bottle of alcohol in his vehicle, authorities said.
Harrington was arrested and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to present a driver’s license, and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was later released pending a court appearance.
