Man charged with DWI following crash in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man is facing charges including driving while intoxicated last week following a motor vehicle crash in Denville Township.

On May 28, police responded to Route 53 in the area of Estling Lake Road for a report of a single-vehicle crash, police said.

Once on scene, Paul Jacobus, 34, of Denville Township was located near where the disabled vehicle had been left, police said.

During the course of the investigation Jacobus was arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.

He was charged with failure to report accident, reckless driving, delaying traffic, driving or parking unregistered motor vehicle, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, abandonment of MV subsequent event; public highway, leaving the scene of accident involving property damage and operating under the influence of liquor or drugs.

He was then released pending a court appearance.
