Man charged with DWI following crash in Warren County, police say
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — A Florida man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a minor motor vehicle crash in Hackettstown last month, according to police.
On Sept. 15, officers responded to the area of 127 Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash with no injuries, police said.
The other driver involved in the crash told officers that the driver who struck his vehicle appeared to be intoxicated.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Randy Rockwell, 47, of Gainesville, Florida.
Police said officers observed an open 24-ounce can of beer in the driver’s door cupholder and a bag containing empty beer cans on the passenger seat.
While speaking with Rockwell, officers noticed that he was swaying and had slurred and slowed speech, police said.
Rockwell was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and allegedly displayed multiple signs of impairment during the testing.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to Hackettstown Police Headquarters for processing.
Rockwell was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was later released to a responsible adult pending a court appearance.
