Man dies after car crashes, overturns on I-287 exit in Somerset County, state police say

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A Totowa man was killed early Sunday when his vehicle ran off the road and overturned on an exit ramp along Interstate 287 in Somerset County, according to the New Jersey State Police.

State Police Spokesman SFC Charles Marchan said troopers responded at about 3:14 a.m. on Nov. 9 to the crash at milepost 12.1 on the southbound side of I-287, at the Exit 12 ramp in Franklin Township.

A preliminary investigation found that the 48-year-old man was driving an Acura passenger car south on the interstate when the vehicle left the roadway, struck multiple trees, and overturned, Marchan said.

The driver sustained fatal injuries, according to police. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available, police said.
