Man faces multiple charges after crashing stolen car during police pursuit in Morris County

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A man is facing multiple charges after crashing a stolen car while being pursued by police in Florham Park Borough on Friday afternoon.

According to the preliminary investigation, on March 14, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was notified of a police pursuit that ended in a motor vehicle crash at approximately 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Vreeland and Hanover Roads.

The pursuit was initiated by Florham Park Police Officers in response to a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was being operated erratically on the shoulder and grass before crashing into a tree.

The driver, Brian Joseph Blozen, 50, of Toms River, was extracted from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital, where he is being treated for serious bodily injuries. The passenger was also transported to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries. No officers were injured.

The Office of Public Integrity and Accountability (OPIA) has been notified, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of Blozen.

Blozen has been charged with second-degree eluding, third-degree receiving stolen property, fourth-degree assault by auto, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of CDS.

The passenger has not been charged and was released from custody.

Under the supervision of OPIA, the conduct of the Florham Park officers will be independently investigated by a separate team of investigators.
