Second-alarm fire damages furniture store in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters responded to a second-alarm commercial structure fire Thursday night at Allerton Furniture in Clinton Township, according to the township’s Division of Fire.

The fire was reported around 9:50 p.m. at the business located at the corner of Allerton Road and Route 31 North. The Annandale Hose Company responded along with multiple mutual aid departments.

Crews encountered heavy fire on the second floor on the south side of the building while battling the blaze in sustained heavy rain, officials said.

All occupants were confirmed out of the building before firefighters began an interior fire attack.

Firefighters worked at the scene for about three hours to bring the fire under control.

According to South Branch Emergency Services Inc., EMS crews provided care and transported injured from the scene. The extent of the injuries and the cause of the fire were not immediately known.
