Man found guilty of sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl in Somerset County

BOUND BROOK BOROUGH, NJ (Somerset County) –A Middlesex County man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Bound Brook Borough, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

A Somerset County Jury on May 14 convicted Lenic Galvan, 22, currently of Piscataway and formerly of Bound Brook Borough of second-degree sexual assault by contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, McDonald said.

On July 25, 2021, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a 12-year-old child reported that she was sexually assaulted in Bound Brook Borough by an unknown male who she met on social media, McDonald said.

The investigation into the alleged sexual assault was conducted by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and detectives from the Bound Brook Borough Police Department.

The 12-year-old girl was interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit and stated that she met an unknown male on social media, who was later identified as Galvan. He arranged for transportation for the victim to his residence where he sexually assaulted her, McDonald said.

On July 26, 2022, as a result of this investigation and DNA results, Galvan was arrested without incident in Bound Brook Borough and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault by contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, McDonald said.

Galvan is scheduled to be sentenced on July 10. He faces up to ten years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served without eligibility for parole pursuant to the No Early Release Act. Defendant Galvan will also be required to register under Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life, McDonald said.
