Man injured after being run over by his own car in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A man was injured after being run over by his own car in Denville Township Thursday morning, according to Denville Township Captain Scott Welsch.

The Denville Police, Denville Fire Department, and Morris County EMS responded to Jade Lane for a report of a resident who had been run over by his own vehicle, Welsch said.

Upon arrival, emergency responders treated the resident for significant abrasions to his leg, along with scrapes and bruising to his other extremities, Welsch said.

After being stabilized, the man was transported to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment of his injuries, Welsch said.

A police investigation revealed that the elderly resident had pulled into his driveway and shifted the vehicle into neutral instead of park. As he exited the vehicle and attempted to retrieve his dog, the car rolled unattended down the driveway, running him over, Welsch said.
