Man pleads guilty to taking customers’ money without doing construction or handiwork in Sussex County

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Passaic County man has pled guilty to taking customers’ money without ever doing any of the construction or handiwork, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.

Regan, 60, of Wayne Township pled guilty to three counts of third-degree theft on Jan. 2 before the honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.

Regan admitted to knowingly obtaining payments from multiple victims by creating fraudulent documents for construction and handiwork estimates. He then took the deposits and never returned to do such work, Murray said.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22.

Regan was represented by Thomas F. Militano, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
