2.9 magnitude earthquake hits New Jersey

NEW JERSEY – A 2.9 magnitude earthquake rattled New Jersey Saturday morning, according to the USGS.

The 2.9 magnitude quake, which occurred about 9:49 a.m., was centered about 4 miles WSW of Gladstone in Somerset County and had a depth of 8.5 kilometers.

It was unclear if this was an aftershock from the 4.8 magnitude quake, that occurred on April 5 at around 10:23 a.m., and centered in Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County and had a depth of 4.7 kilometers,.

Several aftershocks have been felt in the area since the 4.8 magnitude earthquake.

There were no initial reports of injuries or damages to structures in the area from Saturday mornings earthquake.
