Man traveling with flat tire charged with DWI after Route 46 traffic stop in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Randolph man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop late July 4 on Route 46 in Mount Olive Township, police said.

According to police, an officer on routine patrol at approximately 11:44 p.m. observed a red Toyota traveling east on Route 46 with a flat tire. The vehicle was stopped in the area of My Sweet Cleaners.

Police identified the driver as Arkar P. Lin, 47, of Randolph Township.

During the investigation, police said the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed signs of impairment. Lin was asked to exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.

Police said Lin was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, operating an unsafe motor vehicle and failure to possess an insurance card.

Lin was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance.
