Morris County magician sentenced to 45 days in jail for possession of child sexual abuse material
BUTLER, NJ (Morris County) – The former owner of Morley’s Magic Theater in Butler has been sentenced for possession of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
Scott Morley, 49, of Parsippany Troy-Hills and was a Butler resident at the time of the offense was sentenced on February 13 to 45 days in the Morris County Correctional Facility as a condition of two years of probation. He was remanded to the Correctional Facility on February 14 to serve the custodial portion of the sentence, Carroll said.
Upon release, Morley will be subject to internet monitoring of his devices, and is to have no unsupervised contact with children under 18, Carroll said.
Morley pled guilty on July 1, 2024 to one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of CSAM), Carroll said..
The investigation began when the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received an anonymous tip that Morley may be in possession of child pornography. A subsequent search of defendant’s electronic devices authorized by search warrant revealed items of CSAM on his computer.
Morley was subsequently charged on May 15, 2024, Carroll said.
