Woman charged with cocaine possession following disturbance in Sussex County

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Sussex County woman was arrested and charged with drug offenses after police responded to a reported disturbance last month in Newton.

According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:23 p.m. June 15 to the area of 144 Spring St. after receiving a report of a disturbance.

Police said officers encountered Chelsie Cox, 21, of Newton, who allegedly continued to act in a disorderly manner. Cox was subsequently placed under arrest.

During a search incident to the arrest, officers allegedly found a quantity of suspected cocaine and suspected drug paraphernalia in Cox’s possession.

Cox was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. She was later lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
