Morris County man charged with DWI, weapons offense after traffic stop

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Morristown man is facing multiple charges after Denville police stopped him on Route 46 following a report of a suspected drunk driver on June 10.

According to police, officers conducted the traffic stop around 8:16 p.m. near Franklin Road. The driver, identified as Ronald C. Roccasecca, 62, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Police also said Roccasecca was found to be in possession of a prohibited weapon — a billy club — leading to a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.

In addition to that charge, Roccasecca was cited for driving while intoxicated, driving without an interlock device, having an open container of alcohol, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and making an improper left turn.

Roccasecca was released to a sober friend pending a court appearance.
