Morris County man goes to police for ride home, ends up arrested on warrant

MOUNTAIN LAKES BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A Wharton man who went to the Mountain Lakes Police Department asking for a ride home ended up being arrested after officers discovered he had an active warrant, police said.

According to police, Jose Medrano, 22, arrived at headquarters around 10:39 p.m. Sept. 28 to request a ride. When officers asked for identification, they learned Medrano had an active criminal warrant out of Newark, authorities said.

Medrano was taken into custody and later released pending a new mandatory court hearing in Newark, police said.
