Veteran advocate Bob Looby to speak at 2024 Hunterdon County Veterans Medal Ceremony

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County is honored to announce that esteemed veteran advocate Bob Looby will be the guest speaker at this year’s Veterans Day Medal Ceremony.

The event will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 1, at Route 12 County Complex, Building #1, Assembly Space, 314 Route 12, in Raritan Township.

Commissioner and Co-Liaison for Veterans Affairs John Lanza said, “Bob Looby, a decorated veteran and tireless advocate for veterans’ rights, has dedicated his life to supporting those who have served our nation. His efforts at combating veterans’ homelessness and suicide are well known, earning him widespread recognition and respect. We are privileged to have Mr. Looby join us as our guest speaker. His unwavering commitment to veterans’ causes and his inspiring words will undoubtedly make this year’s ceremony a memorable one.”

Among Looby’s accomplishments include six National Homeless Veteran Outreach Awards from the Department of Veterans Affairs and National Coalition for Homeless Veterans; creation of KOVA (Keep Our Veterans Alive), the only statewide veterans suicide awareness program in New Jersey; and management of 75 homeless veteran stand downs and career and resource fairs.

He is also a two-time recipient of the New Jersey Meritorious Service Medal for his efforts in veterans’ employment and homelessness, and initiatives that help recently incarcerated veterans re-establish themselves in the community.
