Morris County man sentenced to 3 years for child pornography
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County has been sentenced for possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM), according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
Richard Kattermann, 31, of Jefferson Township was sentenced on Dec. 13 to three years incarceration in New Jersey State Prison, Carroll said.
Kattermann pled guilty on Sept. 9 to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of CSAM), Carroll said.
The investigation began with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) referencing a media file, allegedly depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors. Investigation revealed that the media file was uploaded to Discord, an internet-based social platform, by the defendant and contained items of CSAM, Carroll said.
Kattermann was arrested on the charge on Feb. 8 and at the time of this investigation, he was employed at Montgomery Academy, a school serving students from age 5 to 21, located in Basking Ridge, Carroll said.
