Morris County Prosecutor promotes Catherine LaQuaglia to senior assistant prosecutor
MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll announced the promotion of Catherine LaQuaglia to senior assistant prosecutor of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office during a formal ceremony on June 16, 2025, at the Commissioners Public Meeting Room.
LaQuaglia will continue her assignment in the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit within the Tactical Division.
LaQuaglia began her career with the prosecutor’s office in January 2014 and has worked in several units, including Appellate, Megan’s Law, Fraud, Animal Cruelty, and General Investigations. She joined the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit four years ago and in 2023 was named the Human Trafficking Liaison to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
She has overseen investigations and prosecutions of human trafficking cases and led community education and outreach efforts. Among her notable cases was securing guilty pleas in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in broad daylight on the Traction Line Recreation Trail.
LaQuaglia has completed specialized training, including the North American Human Trafficking Conference in Las Vegas, as well as Top Gun and Finding Words/Child First Forensic Interview Training in New Jersey.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in peace and justice from Villanova University and a law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
“Sr. AP LaQuaglia has vigorously represented the state in numerous testimonial motions, jury and bench trials, many of which resulted in favorable outcomes on behalf of the State of New Jersey,” Carroll said. “In recognition of her knowledge and experience, I am proud to promote her to a leadership position in the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.”
