‘Stuff the Bus’ school supply drive returns at select Applebee’s in New Jersey, New York

Select Doherty-owned Applebee’s restaurants across New Jersey and Long Island have launched their annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive to help local students and schools gear up for the new academic year.

At participating locations, guests and community members are invited to donate new school supplies or cash contributions. Bright yellow school buses will be parked outside the restaurants to serve as collection points. Once the drive ends, all collected items and funds will be delivered directly to nearby schools or educational organizations.

“Giving back to our neighborhoods stands tall as a pillar of our company’s mission,” said Tim Doherty, president of Doherty Enterprises. “Our annual Stuff the Bus campaign has become a late summer tradition we look forward to as another school year approaches. It’s amazing to see the generosity of our guests and how many local students benefit from their kindness.”

Last year’s campaign raised more than $33,000 worth of supplies and donations. This year’s effort includes donation opportunities and, in some locations, special fundraisers like flapjack breakfasts.

Participating locations and donation events include:

  • Lindenhurst, NY – Donations accepted through Aug. 10; bus on site Aug. 10; benefiting Fiercely Leading Youth, Inc.
  • Parsippany, NJ – Through Aug. 23; bus at restaurant Aug. 23; benefiting Parsippany School District.
  • Manahawkin, NJ – Through Aug. 24; bus on site Aug. 22–24; benefiting three local school districts.
  • Howell, NJ – Through Aug. 25; bus on site Aug. 25; benefiting Howell Township School District.
  • Totowa, NJ – Through Aug. 25; bus on site Aug. 22–25; benefiting Passaic Valley Regional High School.

Guests are encouraged to make a donation during their next visit and enjoy a meal while contributing to a community cause. For additional fundraiser details, guests are advised to contact their local Applebee’s.
