Morris County Prosecutor’s Office earns fourth re-accreditation from state law enforcement association

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll and Chief of Detectives Robert M. McNally announced that the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) has been re-accredited by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) for the fourth consecutive cycle.

The re-accreditation, officially approved by unanimous vote of the NJSACOP Accreditation Board on June 12, 2025, follows a comprehensive review of MCPO policies and operations spanning the years 2022 through 2024.

Originally accredited in 2013, the MCPO has now successfully completed four re-accreditation cycles. The NJSACOP accreditation process evaluates law enforcement agencies on 112 professional standards across five core areas: administration, personnel, operations, investigative practices, and arrestee control.

During the latest cycle, a team of independent assessors conducted off-site audits and on-site inspections of the MCPO’s practices, verifying full compliance with all standards. The assessors then submitted a report to the 12-member Accreditation Board, which reviewed the findings during an official hearing that included discussions with Prosecutor Carroll before voting unanimously to approve re-accreditation.

“Just as society progresses over time, so too must law enforcement in order to continue to provide professional services that both effectively address contemporary challenges and achieve public expectations,” said Prosecutor Carroll. “We have found that our continued participation in the Accreditation Program serves as a significant contributor towards satisfying those objectives.”

He added, “While maintaining our accreditation status reflects positively on the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office as a whole, it could not have been achieved without the continued professional commitment demonstrated by our personnel on a daily basis, for which I commend each for their contributions towards this notable achievement.”

Accreditation through NJSACOP is widely recognized as a mark of excellence in law enforcement practice and performance across New Jersey.
