Morris County public safety complex expansion earns state construction award

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — The Morris County Public Safety Complex Expansion has been recognized as one of New Jersey’s top infrastructure projects, receiving an award at the 15th Annual New Jersey’s Leading Capital Construction Projects Awards.

The honor was presented by the New Jersey Alliance for Action during a ceremony held at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, where 33 projects statewide were recognized for excellence in planning, design and construction.

Morris County Commissioner Director Stephen Shaw and Deputy Director John Krickus attended the event, where Alliance for Action President Jerry Keenan highlighted the county’s project.

The expansion project, which broke ground in December 2024 at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy in Parsippany-Troy Hills, is nearing completion.

The approximately 65,540-square-foot facility, with a project cost of $18 million, is designed to support operations for the Morris County Department of Law and Public Safety, including the Office of Emergency Management and the Division of Public Health.

Officials said the new facility will provide centralized garage and storage space for emergency response vehicles, protective gear and life-saving equipment. It will also offer expanded meeting and operational space for the Division of Public Health, which will relocate from a nearby armory building on West Hanover Avenue.

The current public health facility is expected to be upgraded and repurposed for use by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Unit.

The project was funded through federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars allocated to improve public health infrastructure and emergency preparedness. It was designed by The Musial Group Architects, constructed by Dobco Group and managed by Legacy Construction Management Inc.

Construction is expected to be completed soon, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony planned later this year.
