
Morris County Sheriff James Gannon swears in sergeant, 14 officers
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – In a ceremony at the historic Morris County Courthouse, Sheriff James M. Gannon swore in Sheriff’s Sergeant Adam Nestinger, Sheriff’s Officers Justin Yen, Gregory Wiatroski, and Mamdouh Hassan, as well as Correctional Police Officers Jose Abreu Quezada, Matthew Green, Thomas Anderson, Maleek Awan, Almir Bojkovic, Nicholas Falivene, Edward Mastrodomenico, Marcello Guillermo, Daniel Juarez, Katlyn Lloyd, and Kyle Winter.
- Sgt. Nestinger
Sgt. Nestinger worked in the security industry prior to joining the MCSO. This is where he discovered his true passion – law enforcement.
In January of 2017 Sgt. Nestinger was hired by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office where he began working in Protective Services. He worked access control for the courthouse, ensuring that the courthouse was a safe and secure facility. He also worked in the family courts, and was a liaison for the Family Justice Center. In 2022, Sgt. Nestinger was transferred to the Patrol Division during which time he became a Defensive Tactics instructor, was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and ultimately took on the role as the supervisor of his squad. He is also currently a member of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office’s Honor Guard.
- Officer Yen
Officer Yen has a degree in biology from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a degree in nursing from Rutgers State University. While completing his studies, he worked full-time with the EMS Division of the Elizabeth Fire Department and volunteered as a firefighter/EMT in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Upon graduating, Officer Yen honed his expertise as a trauma nurse in the South Bronx, serving in one of the most challenging healthcare environments for three years and received the “Nurse Of The Year” award at his organization due to his expertise in trauma and critical care. He later spent a year as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse in Newark, further broadening his skills in critical care.
- Officer Wiatroski
Officer Wiatroski attended the County College of Morris receiving his associates degree in Landscape Management and Design. Prior to being hired by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Greg worked for the Morris Township Department of Public Works. During his tenure there he attended Rutgers University and obtained multiple certifications in Tree Care and Shade Tree Management. Officer Wiatroski is currently the Fire Chief of the Mendham Fire Department ad he has also previously served with the Mendham First Aid Squad and Morristown EMS as an EMT.
- Officer Hassan
Officer Hassan came to the United States in 2016 from Egypt. He obtained his associates degree in Criminal Justice at County College of Morris, then pursued a bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies at Montclair State University.
- Officer Abreu Quezada
Officer Abreu Quezada is a Criminal Justice graduate with a passion for law enforcement. He was born in the Dominican Republic. As a child, Officer Abreu Quezada heard stories about what an amazing law enforcement officer his grandfather was. Officer Abreu Quezada’s desire for helping others and serving the community are strong attributes which show his commitment to becoming the best law enforcement officer he could be.
- Officer Green
Officer Green is happy of accomplishing his goal of becoming a Correctional Police Officer. He is looking forward to the many law enforcement challenges ahead.
- Officer Anderson
Officer Anderson displayed his hard work and dedication in college where he graduated Cum Laude. He looks forward to utilizing these traits as he carries out his public service in the most professional manner.
- Officer Awan
Officer Awan, a dedicated and driven individual, known for his remarkable character and unwavering commitment. He has always demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. With a passion for service and a deep sense of justice, Officer Awan aspired to become a police officer. His goal is to contribute positively to his community and make a meaningful impact through law enforcement. His excellent character, combined with his team-oriented approach and athletic achievements, paints a picture of a motivated and capable individual ready to take on the challenges of a career in public service.
- Officer Bojkovic
Officer Bojkovic developed a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others throughout his life. This drive led him to pursue a career as a Corrections Officer, dedicated to maintaining safety and security within the community. Officer Bojkovic has faced and overcome numerous challenges with resilience and determination.
- Officer Falivene
Officer Falivene pursued higher education at Elon University in North Carolina, earning a degree in Supply Chain Management in 2023. After exploring corporate America, he realized his true calling lay in law enforcement. Officer Falivene is heavily engaged in community service. This is what ignited his passion for law enforcement.
- Officer Mastrodomenico
Officer Mastrodomenico always admired police officers and has been dedicated to becoming a police officer ever since he his sophomore year of high school. He is excited to start his new career and is honored to be a part of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
- Officer Guillermo
Officer Guillermo has always dreamed of working in law enforcement. After succeeding in all of the challenges the corrections academy had to offer, he is looking forward to living out his dream to be a police officer.
- Officer Juarez
Officer Juarez is a very hands-on worker and is very quick and adept at learning new skills and knowledge. He worked for Keegan Technologies as a construction technician, where he excelled greatly in the field, obtaining his American Constitute Industry (ACI) Certification and Society of Asphalt Technology (SAT) Certification. Currently, Officer Juarez is happy in achieving his goal of becoming a Morris County Corrections Officer.
- Officer Lloyd
Officer Lloyd attended Morris County Community College where she earned her personal training certificate. During her time at Morris County Community College, she was recognized as a two-time All-American softball player and set many school records. Officer Lloyd has always admired her older brother, who also has gained a respectful position as a detective for the Independence Police Department. She looks forward to working hard to achieve similar success.
- Officer Winter
Officer Winter spent the last nine years teaching middle school math in the City of Orange. This career shift has allowed him to pursue a much-desired life goal.
