MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County Surrogate Heather J. Darling participated in a panel discussion Wednesday at the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey’s annual Women in Commerce Awards breakfast.
The event, held at Glen Ridge Country Club, drew its largest crowd to date, according to Darling’s office, and recognized women for their leadership and impact in New Jersey’s business community.
Jennifer Velez, an attorney and CEO of Public Service Enterprise Group, delivered the keynote address. Jen Mannino, assistant vice president of marketing at LAN Associates, moderated the panel discussion.
Darling joined six other panelists representing HC Constructors, Santander Bank, Mikula Contracting, Valley Health System, Simply Sherri and SKC & Co. CPAs.
The discussion covered the panelists’ career paths, defining professional moments, challenges, leadership philosophies and advice for women seeking career advancement.
Speaking about career advancement and leadership, Darling encouraged women to pursue their professional goals.

Darling also congratulated the women honored during the event for their accomplishments.
Darling has served as Morris County surrogate since January 2020 and has nearly three decades of experience in law, finance and public service.
The Morris County Surrogate’s Court oversees the probate of wills, administration of estates and guardianship matters for Morris County residents.
