Morris County teacher charged with sexual assault of student, prosecutor says

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Morris Knolls High School teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student at her home earlier this year, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll.

Alyssa Perry, 35, of Rockaway Township, was charged on June 6 with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

In March 2025, an administrator at Morris Knolls High School contacted Denville Police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office about alleged inappropriate conduct involving Perry. An investigation determined that on two occasions between February and March 2025, Perry sexually assaulted the victim at her Rockaway Township residence.

According to authorities, Perry was formerly the student’s tutor and currently works as a teacher at Morris Knolls, where the victim is enrolled. Perry has been suspended from her position.

Perry was released under pre-trial supervision with several conditions, including Level 3 monitoring, no contact with the victim or school, and no contact with any student. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 14, 2025, before Superior Court Judge Ralph Amirata.

The investigation remains active. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit at 973-285-6200.

The Rockaway Township Police Department, Denville Police Department, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit are assisting with the case.
