WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — Richard J. Lynch, a Warren County native and World War II U.S. Navy veteran, was honored this week as he celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends and fellow veterans.
Lynch, who turned 100 on Jan. 7, was celebrated a day later at Mira Vie at Brookfield Assisted Living in White Township. The event was organized by Ennoble Care and Warren County Veterans Services Officer Jacquie Petersen.

Warren County Commissioner James R. Kern III attended the celebration and presented Lynch with a Certificate of Merit on behalf of the Warren County Board of County Commissioners. Lynch also received a quilt from the Quilts of Valor Foundation and a Distinguished Military Service Medal from the Warren County War Memorial Corporation.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Lynch served as a signalman third class aboard the USS LST 1109. After his military service, he worked as a printer and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.
Friends and family said Lynch enjoys jigsaw and crossword puzzles and has fond memories of playing card games with his wife. He is also a longtime baseball fan and an avid supporter of the Phillipsburg Stateliners football team.
