Morris County woman charged with child abandonment after leaving child unattended in car amid cold weather

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman has been charged with child abandonment after allegedly leaving a child unattended in a vehicle amid cold weather conditions in Hanover Township, according to police.

On December 23, 2024, an officer responded to a report of an unattended child locked in a vehicle at Wegmans, police said.

Following an investigation and the cold weather, Tania Petrina, 42, of Rockaway, was charged with child abandonment. She was later released pending a court appearance, authorities said.
