Morristown, Montclair-Boonton lines on adjusted schedules after Summit derailment
NEW JERSEY — Service on NJ Transit’s Morristown and Montclair-Boonton lines is running on adjusted schedules starting Monday and will continue until further notice as crews repair damage from a slow-speed work train derailment Friday evening at Summit Station.
Because trains are operating on a single track between Millburn and Summit, passengers should allow additional travel time, officials said.
Numerous trains on the Morristown Line are canceled or modified, including early-morning departures from Dover, Summit, Gladstone and Maplewood. Other scheduled trains are making additional stops to provide alternate service. Several Hackettstown and Dover trains are detouring via Montclair State University between Denville and Newark Broad Street. Two additional evening rush-hour trains — 6360 and 6362 — will depart Summit with added stops.
Westbound service is also affected, with cancellations and changes on trains between Hoboken, New York, Dover and Gladstone.
NJ Transit advised riders to check njtransit.com/ABC for alternate service information.
“We appreciate your patience as crews continue to work around the clock to make the necessary track repairs to resume regular weekday service on the M&E and Montclair-Boonton Lines as soon as possible,” the agency said in a statement.
