Mother, 3 children injured in Somerset County house fire
RARITAN BOROUGH, NJ (Somerset County) — Three children and their mother were transported to the hospital after a fire broke out at their Raritan Borough home on Monday, according to police.
That afternoon, police and members of the Raritan Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence on Helene Place, authorities said.
A Raritan firefighter arrived first on the scene, found the family had evacuated the residence, and encountered a fire on the second story of the house, police said.
A two-year-old child was treated for burns on her arms. Two other children and their mother were treated for smoke inhalation. All victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation, police said.
The Raritan Fire Department was assisted by the Somerville Fire Department, Finderne Fire Department, and Manville Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
