Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County

UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A motorcyclist from Bayonne was killed Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 11:47 p.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 12.6 in Union Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by 35-year-old Raquan Hicks, was traveling east on I-78 when the motorcycle veered off the roadway to the left, re-entered the road, and overturned, Lebron said.

During the collision sequence, Hicks was ejected and struck the guardrail. As a result of the crash, he sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation.
