Motorcyclist killed in crash with Jeep on Route 206 in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 26-year-old man was killed Sunday night when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep at the intersection of Route 206 and Oakwood Drive North in Mount Olive Township, police said.

Police said they received multiple 911 calls around 8:57 p.m. reporting a motorcycle crash in the area. Responding officers determined that a white Jeep turning from southbound Route 206 onto Oakwood Drive North was struck by a black Yamaha motorcycle traveling north on Route 206.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his identity.

An occupant of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was transported to Morristown Medical Center for evaluation, authorities said.

The Mount Olive Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Flanders Fire Department, Atlantic EMS, and St. Clare’s Paramedics.

Route 206 was closed in both directions for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
