Motorcyclist reunites with NJ State Police after bear crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A motorcyclist who was seriously injured after striking a bear on Interstate 78 last month returned to a New Jersey State Police station this week to thank the troopers who responded to the crash.
According to the New Jersey State Police, troopers from Troop B’s Perryville Station Squad No. 3 responded to a single-motorcycle crash on the evening of June 6 on Interstate 78 in Clinton Township.
Troopers determined that the motorcycle operator, Luis Borges, struck a bear in the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle, suffering serious injuries.
Borges was flown to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment before being released.
On July 22, Borges and his family visited the Perryville Station to express their gratitude to the members of Squad No. 3 for their assistance at the crash scene, State Police said.
