Mount Olive unveils plans for Budd Lake Beach upgrades, pending state approval

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Plans to revitalize Budd Lake Beach are moving forward, with improvements awaiting final approval from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Mayor Joe Nicastro announced.

The project will include a paved parking lot, new restrooms, a pavilion, and an upgraded beach area aimed at transforming the site into a destination that residents can enjoy and take pride in.

“We’re currently awaiting final approvals from the State DOT,” Nicastro said. “Our goal is to transform it into a destination residents can once again enjoy and take pride in.”

Construction is expected to begin in late fall 2025 or early spring 2026, depending on the approval timeline. Until then, the beach will remain closed to the public due to safety concerns.

The mayor thanked residents for their continued patience.
