N.J. Motor Vehicle Commission facilities to close Sept. 1 for Labor Day

NEW JERSEY — All New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJMVC) facilities will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day, officials announced.

The closure applies to all agencies, road test sites, and inspection stations. Regular operations will remain in effect the rest of the week, including Saturday, Aug. 30.

NJMVC.gov will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and should be the first stop for New Jersey residents seeking motor vehicle services, officials said.

The website offers access to more than 25 online services, appointment booking for in-person visits, and answers to common customer questions.

While most motor vehicle business in New Jersey can be completed online, nearly all in-person services — including permits, driver testing, document renewals, REAL IDs, and new titles and registrations — require an appointment scheduled through NJMVC.gov.
