New four-way stop to be installed at Naughright and Flocktown Roads in Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, N.J. (Morris County) — A new four-way stop will be installed at the intersection of Naughright Road and Flocktown Road in Long Valley, effective on or about July 1, according to officials.

The safety improvement comes in response to a history of motor vehicle crashes at the location, several resulting in injuries. Over the past decade, the intersection has seen numerous traffic incidents, prompting calls for increased safety measures.

After reviewing crash data and completing a traffic study, the Township Committee, following the recommendation of the Township Engineer, determined that a four-way stop is necessary to reduce speeding, improve visibility, and enhance safety for motorists.

Message boards are currently posted on both sides of the intersection to alert drivers to the upcoming change. New stop signs and roadway markings will be installed when the four-way stop takes effect. The message boards will remain on Naughright Road for an extended period to help drivers adjust.

The Washington Township Police Department will increase patrols near the intersection during the transition to ensure compliance with the new traffic pattern.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact Sergeant Philip Seabeck of the Washington Township Police Department at 908-876-8303.
