New Jersey among 17 states affected by Straus Family Creamery ice cream recall
NEW JERSEY — Straus Family Creamery has voluntarily recalled select flavors and sizes of its organic ice cream products distributed in New Jersey and 16 other states because of the potential presence of metal foreign material.
The company said the recall affects only specific production runs identified by “best by” dates printed on the bottom of containers.
According to the recall notice, the affected products were distributed to retailers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin beginning May 4.
No injuries have been reported, the company said.
Straus Family Creamery said it notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is working with retailers to remove the affected products from store shelves.
Consumers were urged not to eat the recalled ice cream and instead discard the product. The company advised consumers not to return the recalled items to stores.
The recall includes certain containers of Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Cookie Dough, Dutch Chocolate and Mint Chip organic super premium ice cream sold in pint and quart sizes.
Affected “best by” dates range from Dec. 23 through Dec. 30, 2026, depending on the flavor and package size.
